Royton Library will reopen at a temporary location from Monday 19 October at Downey House on Church Street, Royton, OL2 5JS. The move allows essential investigations and repairs to flooring at the original library building on Rochdale Road to proceed.
Downey House is the historic former home of the Cooper family of cotton manufacturers and now houses St Paul's Parish Centre.
Opening hours at temporary location
The temporary library will be open 9am to 5pm on Monday to Friday, and 9.30am to 1pm on Saturday. It will provide a book lending service with popular titles for both adults and children available to borrow.
Alternative services during closure
Residents can continue to access library services at other locations across Oldham during the repairs. A wide range of digital library services are also available, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and online reference resources, through the Oldham Libraries online service at hla.oldham.gov.uk/libraries.
Subnum Hariff-Khan, Head of Heritage, Libraries and Arts for Oldham Council, said the council is pleased to continue delivering a library service within the community while the essential works take place.
Oldham Council will confirm a reopening date for Royton Library at the original building once repair work is complete. For more information about library services and alternative locations, visit hla.oldham.gov.uk/libraries.
