Oldham Council has condemned attacks on bin crews and traffic wardens after incidents in which a bin wagon had a brick thrown through its window and enforcement officers were targeted with abuse.
The bin wagon was damaged during its rounds last month when a resident threw a brick through the driver-side window. At least one traffic warden was also targeted in the Goldwick area.
Council response
A council spokesperson said the attacks were "unacceptable" and put staff at risk while delaying services for other residents.
"Our staff are working hard every day to deliver essential services for communities across the borough. These unacceptable actions not only put people at risk but also delay services for other residents," the spokesperson said.
"Any form of verbal or physical abuse towards our staff is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated."
Enforcement activity
The council has recently laid fresh double yellow lines and issued 273 parking fines so far this year in parts of the Waterloo Street area.
The council stated that enforcement officers are carrying out their duties to help keep highways safe and accessible.
