Oldham Council is encouraging residents to visit local parks and green spaces during Love Parks Week, running from 24 July to 2 August. The campaign, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, celebrates parks, the people who care for them, and their benefits to communities.
Oldham has 32 parks and green spaces across the borough. According to the council, they offer activities suited to families, people seeking exercise, and those looking for relaxation.
Discover new outdoor spaces
Love Parks Week is an opportunity to explore parks residents may not have visited before. Alexandra Park, Tandle Hill Country Park, and Daisy Nook Country Park are among those available across the borough. A full list of parks is available at www.oldham.gov.uk/parks.
Get active outdoors
Oldham has outdoor gyms designed for all ages and abilities. Some are laid out as fitness trails winding through parks and green spaces, combining exercise with scenic walks or jogging. Others are formal workout areas with equipment targeting strength, balance, and cardio fitness.
Family activities and children's play
Summer holidays are a suitable time for families to use local parks. Playgrounds, open spaces, and picnic areas provide free days out. Uppermill and Alexandra Park host Junior Parkruns every Sunday. Details are available at www.parkrun.org.uk.
Wellbeing benefits
Parks offer opportunities for physical and mental wellbeing through social connection and stress reduction. Residents can watch birds, discover wildflowers, or take a break from screens.
