Oldham town centre will host Nostalgic Oldham on Saturday 19 September, a free day of retro entertainment and family activities running from 11am to 4pm.

The annual event will feature vintage cars, live entertainment, and traditional performances throughout the town centre. Vintage vehicles from Tame Valley Motors will be on display, giving visitors the chance to see classic motors up close.

Main attractions

Parliament Square will become a hub of activity with the Big Yellow Bus, where visitors can enjoy circus performances, live music, and street entertainment.

The Market will host the official unveiling of a large community-created mural of Oldham, illustrated by artist Dave Draws. Local people helped shape the artwork through drawing, storytelling, and personal connections to the borough. The finished piece will be displayed in The Market following its unveiling from 11am.

The Saddleworth Morris Men will perform in the town centre throughout the day as part of the retro atmosphere.

Performances and activities

Performances and activities will come from Troupe Dance, Raggle Taggle Arts, Betty Brown Bags and Oldham Theatre Workshop. Oldham Archives will deliver a family craft workshop.

Cycling fans can visit the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift tent to see the prestigious race trophy and meet people involved in bringing the race to Oldham. The Tour de France Femmes will visit the borough in summer 2027.

Subnum Hariff-Khan, Head of Libraries and Heritage and Arts at Oldham Council, said: "Nostalgic Oldham is a chance to celebrate everything that makes our borough special, from our history and traditions to the people and communities that shape Oldham today. There will be something for everyone to enjoy, whether that's exploring the vintage vehicle display, watching live performances, getting involved in family activities or seeing the new community mural unveiled."

Northern Roots will also open its new Welcome Building from 11am, featuring a café and shop, alongside a brand-new Forestry Skills Centre and four additional acres of urban farmland.
