Alt and Holts has been selected as one of 284 communities across the UK to receive long-term government investment through the Pride in Place programme. Residents and businesses are being invited to help decide how £20 million in funding will be spent over the next decade.

The newly established Alt and Holts Neighbourhood Board is developing a 10-year Pride in Place Plan for the area. Unlike short-term funding schemes, Pride in Place is designed to support lasting change, giving communities time, resources and influence to set local priorities and guide investment decisions.

How Residents Can Get Involved

Board members are beginning the process of gathering community views. Residents will be asked what they value about Alt and Holts, what improvements they would like to see, and where investment could make the biggest difference.

The Board brings together residents, community representatives, businesses, councillors and local organisations to guide the programme. It will seek views from people of all ages and backgrounds, including young people, businesses, community organisations and faith groups.

Laurian Macdonald, Chair of the Alt and Holts Pride in Place Board, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for Alt and Holts, but the most important thing is that local people are at the heart of it. £20 million over 10 years gives us the chance to think about the long-term future of our neighbourhood and make improvements that can have a lasting impact."

Neil Consterdine, Director of Communities at Oldham Council, added: "£20 million of investment over the next decade represents a significant opportunity for Alt and Holts, but what makes this particularly important is that local people will play a central role in deciding what that investment should deliver."

What Happens Next

Over the coming weeks, Board members will be out across Alt and Holts speaking with residents, businesses and community organisations. To stay informed and receive updates about opportunities to get involved, residents can join the Alt and Holts Pride in Place mailing list.
